Below are three blogs I've just stumbled on to and am completely crazy about. All of them are in the process of re-vamping their homes and they feature lots of DIY projects and before and afters...right up my alley. Enjoy!
Delia over at fierceandnerdy.com has some great Chic Geek tips for planning a cool, low-cost party and impressing everyone with your belle-of-the-ball skills. She included some Chinese lanterns I have listed on Etsy and her ideas and links to great Etsy sellers are a must-read. Please check it out!
Today was a spring fever making day. We ran out for some groceries, got some fresh air from rolled down windows, and decided spring will really come again this year after all. Probably not next week (or even next month), but it will be back.
I had decided before we even left the house that we needed a little treat today. I had ice cream cones in mind. Nothing fancy..just an old fashioned soft serve in a crunchy cone. He suggested Dari-licious. I had never been, and always want to try something new, so we took a chance on it being open and headed in that direction.
It was open! We pulled in, placed our order at the drive-thru, and I got handed a treat that made my day. An ice cream cone with an actual cherry on top. I've only ever seen those in pictures. Everybody knows sweet illustrations always show a cherry on top of an ice cream cone but to actually be served one in real life? That's absolutely never happened to me before. I was over-the-moon thrilled. Scott doesn't care much for maraschino cherries (!!!), so I got two. I bounced in my seat all the way home.
My favorite whole Christmas album...the one I listen to over and over each year...(including today)...
My Top 5 Favorite Christmas Songs:
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem
The Holly & The Ivy
The Little Drummer Boy
This list lacks enough traditional carols that it probably makes me seem as if I don't appreciate the true meaning of Christmas. And I do. These are just my very favorites and they're always the ones I want to hear first year after year.
What are your must-listen Christmas songs? Are there any that you just loathe hearing? (Mine is The Twelve Days of Christmas.)
I've added some fun and colorful blogs to my Can't Live Without list. Some of these are girls I've been visiting a long time and have just now gotten added to the list. I think "Add to blogroll" has probably been on my To Do list 6-8 months. Finally sat down and got it done this morning.
It's here! The week I wait for all year - Birthday Week. And it's even better this year because my birthday falls on Friday. Having a Friday birthday is just about the best thing ever, don't you think?
I always take my birthday off and we're planning a fun trip to Indy that day. We're going to...
Go to a museum
Try what's supposed to be the "the best hamburger in Indianapolis" at this little tavern called The Working Man's Friend
Hit the bookstore for some ~Happy Birthday To Me~ presents
Look for our Christmas cards
Last birthday we also started a tradition of finding a Christmas ornament for each year so that several years from now we'll have a fun holiday collection to spark memories. We'll check out a neat shop at the Keystone mall to try and find that perfect, special one.
Before the Indy trip there's much busyness, multiple appointments, etc. to get through so Friday will truly be a much-deserved reward.
It's time for Spookapalooza, Take 2! It's hard to believe we've been having palooza parties for a year now. We finally got a date settled on (this coming Saturday) and this past weekend a fireplace makeover was on my list.
I won't show you the whole thing (in case my li'l niece and nephew spooks look over their Mama's shoulder while she's reading this at their house), but I tried to creep it up good.
In a bunch of stuff my Mom brought me a week or two ago was an old black umbrella and I had it set aside along with some old jars, a sly cat Halloween decoration from another junkin' haul my Aunt Jo brought me, and some newer decorations.
Now I just need to make sure I have enough Bingo prizes, ingredients for our baking adventures, and a nice (semi) scary movie to go with our popcorn.
